Vanderbilt, Michigan

Vanderbilt is located a few miles north of Gaylord in Otsego County.  It was settled about 1875 on land owned by the Vanderbilt family of New York and when the Michigan Central Railroad came through in 1880, this village in Corwith Township was given their name. Physician Henry C. Peckham became its first postmaster on June 24, 1880. Incorporated as a village in 1901. Surrounded by farmland and gentle rolling hills. New resort developments offering year round entertainment and outdoor recreation activities such as skiing, golf and hunting.  Village Hall: 606 Garfield, P. O.
